Key Responsibilities:
- To work with the Scientific Team Leader/Director, Scientific Services to provide writing/editorial support to the company
- Ability to produce materials for symposiums, interactive moa’s, slides, manuscripts, and posters.
- To ensure that the writing aspects of all projects are completed on time, to the client’s brief and within budget
- To maintain the highest standards of written work by implementing quality control at all stages of a project
- To liaise with designers and art workers to generate layout of copy
- To coach writers and trainees within the group on a project-by-project basis, and act as a reviewer on such projects
- To contribute to the training of Medical Writers
- To write and/or editing the whole range of projects undertaken by the Agency with limited guidance from more senior members of the writing team*
- To facilitate completion of all projects, from first draft through to final page proofs, by undertaking such tasks as:
- Incorporating client/author changes to draft manuscripts up to final draft stage
- Undertaking necessary reference searches
- Referencing of documents and provision of marked-up references to the client
- Selecting appropriate figures and working with editors/studio to get them redrawn
- Working with client services/editors to ensure all copyright approvals are sought from authors and publishers for any previously published figures
- Liaising with designers/art workers on design and page layout
- Reviewing page proofs and checking color proofs
- Updating internal team and client with editorial progress
- Work with more junior members of the writing team in a coaching capacity
- Help advise on the content and flow or articles during the editorial process
- To manage their own workload under the guidance of the STL/DSS, and alert the STL/DSS to potential resourcing issues. Project management responsibility also includes managing the editorial output of more junior members working on designated projects, under the guidance of the STL/DSS
- To provide scientific support at congresses/meetings throughout the US and from time to time in the United Kingdom and overseas (e.g. at slide previews)

- BSc (MSc), PhD, PharmD, or other relevant experience
- At least 2–3 years medical writing experience within an agency (or similar industry) environment
- High quality writing: the full range of materials in a variety of styles, with minimum supervision
- Good organizational and verbal communication skills
- Directing less experienced writers: experience of coaching or training
- Project management: competence to oversee the editorial process in the absence of other team members
- High level of client service experience from pitch, project meeting and event attendance is a plus but not a requirement
